Kirk Originals

When I spotted my good friend Prince wearing the eye catching and stylish glasses the first question that came into mind was 'where did you get your very trendy glasses from?' The answer was no doubt he said Kirk Originals

I did what I always do if like something... is try it on. The fit was perfect,  attention to details is very spot on and to mention how fashionable it looked. It just enhances and transform your look. It's like the icing on the cake.

I will advise you visit their stores in london and europe or better still visit their website www.kirkoriginals.com

You can always stand out with a pair of Kirk Originals.

Yasmin Sewell Interview, 25th November, 2010

FBC’s guest speaker on the 25th of November is retailer extraordinaire Yasmin Sewell. From a young age Yasmin has been a force to reckon with in the fashion industry. At 18 Yasmin Sewell worked as a fashion assistant at Harper’s Bazaar in New York, four years later she opened Yasmin Cho – listed by the New York Times as one of the 5 most influential boutiques in the world. In 2005 she relocated to London where she took the helm of world-renowned retailer, Browns. In 2008 she branched-out into consultancy and is credited with the reinvention of London’s iconic department store, Liberty. Yasmin steered the project to success as Chief Creative Consultant bringing in 60 new designers, and within a year Liberty declared double-digit growth, reporting its biggest half-yearly profit for over 10 years in August 2009.
Yasmin is also a big supporter of burgeoning talent and her golden touch has helped propel names including Christopher KaneMeadham KirchhoffNicholas KirkwoodMarios SchwabAcne andMichael Van Der Ham.Yasmin’s commitment to the industry sees her working with the British Fashion Council, as well as sitting on various boards including the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award and she has twice judged the British Fashion Awards.
Yasmin’s resume is impressive to say the least, and therefore it is only suitable that another fashion maverick conducts her interview.
On the 25th of November Yasmin was interviewed by digital whizz,FBC member and Digital Director of WGSN Lauretta Roberts  at Swarovski Crystallized who had just stepped off the plane from New York where she created the first ever Global Fashion A

Lauretta Roberts interviewing Yasmin Sewell
On her advise to selling, she stated that one has to know your competition, don't be delusional and most importantly know your market.
On the question on what to wear  next season, Yasmin said it is right to go to with your feeling as fashion evolves and also it is worth while gathering information around the world.

With the world moving fast into the technology age, she said she is a firm believer of the internet and she will and still uses the internet to shop.

Asked how internet affect consumer behaviour, Yasmin's answer straight way was 'scary'.  Scary for designers. Most of them (designers) have to be very careful their work are not over exposed hence they are hyper cautious what they exhibit on the net.

She also made emphasis on Boutique stores with the way the store should feel and the service and product it renders. On the topic of service, Yasmin stated that London is best known for its appalling way of customer services and I could not agree more. There is this 'I do not care' attitude. But there is one department store that as we all know is very good when it came to service and they are no other than John Lewis.
The crowd

Among all the fashion designers she love and adores, Balenciaga tops them all. I have to say the name was mentioned 8 times or more. And the two up coming designers she said we should look out for are Thomas Tate and J.S. Lee/

One shop she would lay her hands on is David Jones in Australia and asked what she will do to it, her answer was, sort out the Brand mix and the layout.

On a whole listening to Yasmin Sewell, I can to say she has come very far and she clearly knows where she is heading.

Newbury Racecourse Gentleman's Day, 26th November, 2010

Newbury Racecourse

The Newbury Racecourse hosted a 6 elite jump races and men's winter style competition in conjunction with Austin Reed-Newbury's first ever fashion partnership offering best dressed man membership to their newly launched Q club.

Approximately 30,000 people were expected to descend on the racecourse for the 3 day fixture which includes the celebrated Hennessy Gold Cup. One of the highlights of the jump racing calendar.

The two people to scout for the best dressed on the racecourse were Amanda (Austin Reed PR Manager) and no other person than Prince Cassius, Britain's best dressed man.
Prince Cassius being interviewed by a BBC Journalist.

I have to say I was really impressed with the gentlemen they  scouted. They all had their individual style, but at the end of the day the winner had to have the edge, fine tailoring and character in his style.

At 2.15 the contenders were all lined at the Ring Parade where the judges ( Amanda, Prince Cassius and Steve) were going to choose Newbury Racecourse Best Dressed/ Gentleman. At 2.25 the winner was announced.

Even though it was a very cold day, I really enjoyed myself. It's worth going back again but this time I would  prefer to go during the summer season.

My thanks goes to Austin Reed for inviting me to the
Newbury Racecourse and it is always a pleasure to see the team.

The positive reaction has been generated by the new design direction the brand has taken and from the
introduction of the new Good Year Welted and ‘Oliver Sweeney London’ collections. These lines have
taken a more of a contemporary approach whilst retaining original characteristics of an Oliver Sweeney

LOUIS VUITTON S/S 11 PRESS DAY.

As I entered the Head Office of Louis Vuitton on Old Bond Street for the preview of their Spring/Summer 2011 collection i knew i was going to be seeing a collection thats worth seeing. Marc Jacobs never ceaseS disappoint me. The collection is very glamorous and very flattering to the female figure.
There is gloss, glitter and glamour in this Spring/Summer 2011 Louis Vuitton collection. There is also a dazzling color, shimmering texture and mesmerizing movement.

The season's shoes are high heels sandals which sensually reveal the feet with slender straps in glossy patent leather, combined with the touches of suede, lizard or satin. Here, too, detail is the key. The heels come adored with flapper-style fringes or in the shape of animals legs encrusted with strass and crystal.

Amazon skydiving inspires the collection's army issue parachute construction and lightweight silks. It is also worth mentioning that New York's superstar tattoo artist Scott Campbell had an input in the classic pattern and animal signs from the chinese zodiac.
