What Style Means To Me.

What is your Style? There are so many times I have been asked by friends and even by total strangers I meet either on the street or at social gathering what my style is. I think each and everyone of us has a different meaning of Style is and what it means to us.

Before I answer the above question about what my style is... let's talk about style and what it means to me personally. When I was a young man in my teens, I just loved to play with clothes and I guess that is because I was always around my mother who made her own clothes and she always looked different and stylish form the other mothers School functions. Her style was very minimal, very detailed tailoring and her dress fit so well. When it came to accessories she always said there is time and place for one to accessorize. I didn't you really understand her because for me back then , it was like if you have it,  you must as well show it off. In short I learnt the basis of styling from my mother, that style is an individual thing, it's about being comfortable in yourself  and that goes on transform in what you wear.

I have got to a point in my life where I know what suits me and what doesn't. I have the done the experimentation with clothes as I was growing up and it was fun but it gets to point where you either decide what is best before and you stick to it. By sticking to it doesn't mean wearing the same outfit as a uniform.

Style for me is the ability create your own look using a finished piece be it a designer piece, high street or vintage. For me personally I love to mix and match and create the contemporary look.

One of my all time favourite style is an over size Lanvin shirt or Dior, skinny fitted jeans preferably Cheap Mondays, a YSL heeled ankle boots and slim fitted 1960s blazer. This look really works for me because there is height and freedom of movement.

I also believe that it is important to know your body shape and proportion, know the best parts, bad parts and show more of the best features. There is no point wearing long boots if  you have short legs.

Fashion is seasonal but style isn't, that's why I choose to create to my own Style. What I tell my clients I style is that it doesn't matter if you are not wearing the latest season but as long as you have your own style that represents you then you are fine. You will for sure stand out in the crowd in a very confident way. At the end of the day what is the point of spending money on the latest trend when you are going to look a hot mess?

Lets remember that style and substance is the way forward. Style should never be complicated.
