OTHER CRITERIA LAUNCH MISHA WORLD SILK SCARVES.

This spring, the 15^th of March marks the launch of Misha World limited edition scarves exclusively at Other Criteria.  Through this series artist Misha Milovanovich has taken the square frame and poured in fantasy fashion.  A Spring Summer 12 statement piece or a day-wear daydream, Misha World has created a collection to choose from.   

Each scarf’s artwork is realised in Italian silk twill, and the 10 unique designs come in editions of 200.  Misha World takes inspiration from the spheres of art, music, fashion, and travel; from Allen Ginsberg’s poetry to Jazz, 60s prints and Pop culture, all combine like a Japanese anime of shattered colour blocks.    

With Misha’s painterly background, unique sweet and sour colour combinations work against black and white backgrounds.  In the range of ten, the wearer can choose from the blazing prints of power pastels and sherbets, or the tribal geometric block borders of another.  Jazz influences speak through a cacophony of colour in graphic deco-shapes whilst Manga-style eyes seem to look to the future.  Through these scarves art historical figures from the likes of Picasso and Mondrian meet with fashion’s forefather of print Emilio Pucci to form the ultramodern designs of Misha World.  This spring’s scarf collection captures the best of retro, awakens new colour consortiums and forms part of the covetable wardrobe. 

Whether Candy Warrior, Rio, Mellow Yellow, London Life, Ipanema, Picasso, Good Times Are Coming, Mr Toasty, Le Bien Le Mal or Mr Baddy, each design exudes personality and versatility, perfectly described by Misha as ‘having a scarf with many different lives, almost like a friend’.

Misha World silk scarves will be available exclusively in the UK at Other Criteria, 14 Hinde St, London W1 and online at www.othercriteria.com, priced at £325. Also exhibited as part of the window display will be a sculpture and print by the artist.

ROSE AND JAMES LONG COLLECTIONS TO DEBUT AT LONDON FASHION WEEK.

CAT Footwear will be showcasing two highly anticipated designer collaboration collections during London Fashion Week AW 12, with emerging menswear designers Martine Rose and James Long. Both collections will be exclusively previewed during the designers NEWGEN MEN Salon and Fashion Forward shows and will draw inspiration from Cat Footwear’s workwear heritage.

ELLE STYLE AWARDS 13TH FEBRUARY 2012 TO BE HOSTED BY ALEXA CHUNG

ELLE, the world’s biggest-selling fashion magazine, has announced that style icon Alexa Chung will present the ELLE Style Awards, in association with Next, to be held on Monday 13th February 2012.

  

Now in its 15th year, the prestigious Elle Style Awards are renowned as the “Fashion Oscars” celebrating the most stylish stars, the brightest emerging talent and fashion’s greatest achievers.  

This year, the awards will take place at the Savoy Hotel, London, which since its refurbishment and re-opening in 2010 has once again become the jewel in London’s crown.

Alexa Chung is a previous winner of both the coveted ELLE Editor’s Choice Award and the TV Star Award. Alexa is currently working in the US presenting new fashion show 24 Hour Catwalk, having recently joined the likes of Samantha Cameron, Laura Bailey and Poppy Delevingne as a British Fashion Council Ambassador.

Alexa Chung comments: “I'm very excited to be hosting the Elle style awards for the fourth time. It's always a great night and amazing to be in the same room as so many fashion gods!”

Previously at the ELLE Style Awards, British style icons such as Naomi Campbell, Carey Mulligan, Thandie Newton, Agyness Deyn, and Victoria Beckham, have graced the red carpet alongside Hollywood’s elite. Celebrities such as Charlize Thereon, Kristen Stewart, Mickey Rourke, Matt Dillon, Penelope Cruz, and Clare Danes have all supported the ELLE Style Awards over the past 15 years.  Winners in 2011 included Tom Ford, Christopher Kane, Natalie Portman, Stephen Dorff, Emma Watson and Helena Christensen.

It's been announced that 4711 is sponsoring Matthew Williamson's catwalk show at this year's at LFW A/W12. 

Pleasing to the ears as it was, it brought back memories of the shoot I did using the product (4711).

DINNER FOR FIVE THE DAY BEFORE XMAS.

Dinner for five curtesy Robert Clayton, a Fashion Designer and famously known for his creation of Yorkshire pearls... little did I know he was also capable of perfectly wiping up a cuisine that could march up to any other five star restaurant in London.

Starter

The starter was a thin slice of parma ham rapped around asparagus served with baby spinach, marinated mushroom, parsnips, a slice of goat cheese with a drizzle of extra virgin oil.

The main dish - A perfectly cooked beef ( I opted for medium rare which was divine and just melted in my mouth) with grilled crunchy vegetable and new potatoes which tasted sanctorum.

'The Strawberry Surprise'

A gain, I was blown away by the dessert which was single handedly put together by Bert. I had to name  'Strawberry Surprise' for the fact that I was flabbergasted with the art. 


To make the night more festive, we were treated to a delicious spongy christmas pudding and once again, it was made by the bare hands of Bert. I dare say more!

We drunk, we ate, chatted and made merry. An evening that made me realize that this man - Bert - is a wonderful being that has many talents and one of them is certainly the ability conquer the kitchen - cooking.

I salute you, Kirk Originals, for a year's success at your flagship store on Conduit Street in Mayfair. 

It was a pleasurable delight to be part of the celebrations there, where specs lovers and dedicated Kirk Originals fans were all under one roof, enjoying each other's company and the delicious nibbles. And most important of all, to view the new range of Kirk Originals acrylic frames - Beam. 

The thickness of the frame is something new, a novel introduction. And Kirk has maintained the Vibrancy of colours which is well-known as his signature.

The night was fun, and seeing Jason Kirk modeling his new range of specs was awe-inspiring. We were treated to some up-beat tunes by DJ Nikki Beatnik and a set from Jake Emlyn, who took to the stage for a live performance.

I could not but try on some of the newest frames ranges, and I have to say the styles keep getting better.
