Ashish Autumn/Winter 2011 - London fashion Week.
Ashish A/W11 is an homage to the archetypical poor little rich girl but one vital difference - she knows her bread's been buttered, but prefers it landed face down.
Taking shabby chic to a whole new level, she perches on its unmade bed in a moth ravaged jumper that's is more holy than the Bible. And, like the peeling stucco of her Dalston digs, her wardrobe purports to better days, albeit that for every frayed edge and missing button, there is a glistening sequin undercoat.

AMINAKA WILMONT AUTUMN/WINTER 2011 - LONDON FASHION WEEK
The digital prints from this collection are inspired by animals hide, skins and furs. The prints are bold and strong and there is a hint in the direction towards more structured blocks of shape and colour. The knitwear, in graduating shades of grey has been cut to flow widely around a silhouette, with arm and leg warmers continuing the raw and unbreakable feel throughout the collection.
'For us this collection has been about showing the british fashion industry who the Aminaka Wilmont woman is. She is determined and confident with her own individuality and uniqueness. This is our 7th season on schedule, we know the direction we are moving in and we want this to come across in the collection.' explained Maki Aminaka, Creative Director of Aminaka Wilmont.

Prophetik Autumn/Winter 2011 - London Fashion Week
The Prophetik Autumn/Winter 2011 show kicked off with a live volin performance by Analiza Ching, and the award-winning British composer and conductor, Benjamin Ellin and his orchestra.
Ripped silks and organic sit alongside 100 year year old southern quilt handed down from Jeff Garner's great grandmother Lola.
One of the jackets in his collection is crafted from the quilted bedspread from Jeff's bed as a child.
Thick and heavy hemp skirt sweep the floor and a new fabric introduced this season is a cactus silk, made from the agave plant.
Prophetik's show stopping finale dress is made from ostrich feathers, which are naturally shed twice a year, hand stitched onto silk.
Prophetik has collaborated with accessories label dotted loop on the reworked vintage jewellery and with Los Angeles based sustainable shoe label, CYDWOQ. Shoes have been co-designed by Prophetik's Keff Garner and CYDWOQ's Rafi, made by artisans using vegetable-tanned leather.

My Press Coverage In The Vice Magazine
18th February 2011
I got snapped by VICE Magazine in East London at the re-launch party for DIESEL/ADIDAS. The two famous brands teamed up to produce a limited edition of trainer range which was unveiled that night. The party was really packed and yes too much was going on. Like the hip-pop rapper Nelly said ' it's getting hot in here'. Two words that best describes the night. Cool and Fash!
We were treated to some good sounds by A1 Bassline, TEETH etc.

London Fashion Week -Bora Aksu Autumn/Winter 2011
18th February 2011
Bora Aksu A/W11 was inspired by old poster and book covers of jekyll and Hyde and Sweeny Todd.
'Dark motives against an air of respectability was very interesting and how to incorporate both those characteristics into one look. It also allowed me to play with shapes and fabrics especially when the tailored pieces' explained Bora Aksu.
Embracing the masculinity of this collection Bora Aksu has introduced more separates than in previous seasons. Short tailored jacket, shirts and trousers are showcased against the staple cocktail dresses that have become a signature of the brand with layered looks to achieve the contrast.
Fabrics are used to bring texture and volume. Leather features more frequently than before from piping to full dresses made from individual panels that are bound with cord. Imaginative use of plastic and leather represent the animalistic core beneath exterior of silks and gentry tweeds.

London Fashion Week - Maria Grachvogel Autumn/Winter 2011
18th February 2011
It was a moment of wild crows with dark sleek feathers, ravens, digital prints at its best at Maria Grachvogel show which took place in the Lancaster Boardroom at the Savoy.
Among Grachvogel collection were V necks blouse with floor draping at the back and above the knee in front skirt, gowns were featured as well giving a red carpet feel. Maria Grachvogel's work has captured the likes of Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz, Scarlett Johannson, Victora Beckham etc.
Short dresses, draped to achieve a mixture of cling and float, sometimes with a caped back, in orange, or parchment and black, offered a more daytime approach, along with wide-collared robe-coats in bone wool flannel or olive cashmere tweed

Ascher Pop-Up Store launch Party.
17th February 2011
My Invitation designed Vanessa Fristedt -www,swedishblondedesign.com |
As part of London Fashion Week Ascher launched a pop up store on 221 Brompton Road. It was hip and splendid.
Guests included Blogger and Fashion writer Leroy Dawkins, Blogger and Socialite Prince Cassius, couturier Tomasz Starzewski, actress Greta Scacchi, interior designer Tessa Kennedy, theatre director Sir Peter Hall,
actress and film maker Somi Guha, Toby Anstruther, students from St Martin's, curators from the V&A museum, stylists, models, etc etc... were treated to glasses of champagne. Being a fashion, art and design enthusiast, there was no other better place to be that night. This is the company that has an immense rich history.
Now, Sam Ascher the grandson of the innovative textile genius Zika Ascher let us on a history about the Ascher company, and about how its designs spans the history of post war fashion. He also talked about how the fabric has been seen on every catwalk from the Balenciaga and Dior to Mary Quant as well as Anna Sui.
Ascher was the first to approach contemporary artist to design fabrics and scarves. Including Matisse, Moore, Sutherland and Zao wou-ki. It is also worth mentioning that these artist were not given any rigid guidelines or restricted in any form or what so ever as far as coming out with a design was concerned.
Up until now, Ascher continues the tradition of creating very rich beautiful fabric and accessories.
On display are framed on the walls of 30 vintage Ascher scarves some in silk, some in other fabrics, they were silk-screen printed by masters and commissioned by Zika from 51 of the greatest names in the 20th Century art.
There is also on display photocopies of archives of hand written and typed letters to the genius Zika Ascher and photographs. I have to say I was really touched by that. Very Fascinating.
Sam Ascher showed his newest scarf collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. The current Spring/Summer collection 2011 is on sale in selected stores in London and on http://www.ascherstudio.co.uk
The pop-up store is now opened to the public till the 15th March 2011.
